Tobyhanna Federal Credit Union's CEO, Jim Kanaley, announced that he is stepping down after nine years at the helm. Tobyhanna's assets increased from $93 million to $155 million under his leadership. (1/9)
Empower Federal Credit Union of Syracuse, New York, was featured in CreditUnions.com due to its amazing 14.3% loan growth in 2011 ($345 million). Thanks in part to its well-constructed incentive program, Empower has boosted loans by at least 10% for three years in a row. (12/19)
LANECO Federal Credit Union of Eugene, Oregon, raised more the $2,600 for the pediatric and neonatal units at Sacred Heart Medical Center. The institution opened its parking lot to University of Oregon college football fans on a recent game day, and asked the parkers for a donation. One of its vendors, CO-OP Financial Services Network, agreed to double the money raised with matching funds. (11/29)

First Financial Credit Union of West Covina, California ($465M, assets) was ranked second in credit card balance growth over the past year among U.S. credit unions above $50M in assets. Salal Credit Union of Seattle, Washington, was featured in the May 23 issue of the Credit Union Journal due to its innovative marketing. As part of checking account promotion, the credit union gave gifts to members who checked into foursquare about visiting Salal or reviewed Salal on Yelp. Goldenwest Credit Union of Ogden, Utah has once again proved its commitment to mobile banking. The credit union recently released an Android banking app, joining its lineup of apps for the Blackberry, iPhone, and iPad. Approximately 10% of Goldenwest's members are enrolled in mobile banking. (5/2)

Bay Federal Credit Union of Capitola, California, announced a new emergency loan program.The loans are intended to help local residents affected by the tsunami waves that hit Santa Cruz Harbor on March 11, and the flooding that occurred in Capitola Village on March 24 and 26. Cooperative Center FCU of Berkeley, California, is installing a solar power system that will provide 65 percent to 75 percent of the institution's electricity.
